UNDATED (WSAU-WAOW) — Wisconsin Democratic senator Tammy Baldwin sat down with Newsline 9’s Daniel Keith over the weekend to address some of last week’s Washington headlines.
Baldwin made it clear that she’s not a fan of the GOP tax plan, which should see a vote by mid-week. “First of all I think that we all agree we want a system that is simpler and fairer — especially for hard working families, small businesses, and manufacturers. [It’s a] tax measure that’s got even worse, in terms of its tilting toward the wealthy.” Baldwin added that she feels lawmakers are missing an opportunity to level the playing field for everyone.
On the issue of sexual assault cases against her colleagues, Baldwin said she feels we’ve reached a turning point in society. “More women have felt like they can speak out. Like they’re not necessarily risking their jobs to do so.” She went on to say that she feels those who accused President Trump of sexual assault during the election should have an opportunity to speak out as well.
Baldwin closed the conversation by saying everyone should feel concerned about the recent Net Neutrality rollbacks enacted by the FCC.
