WAUSAU, WI (WSAU) — A Wausau man accused of trying to lure a teen for drugs and sex failed to show up for a pre-trial motion hearing on Tuesday, resulting in a warrant for his arrest.
Jason Olerich didn’t show for Tuesday’s appearance, leading Judge Scott Corbett to cancel his $7,500 signature bond and issue a bench warrant. His lawyers note that he hasn’t been available via phone.
Proper notice for Tuesday’s hearing was sent to Olerich.
The 41-year-old is accused of communicating with an undercover officer posing as a 15-year-old girl on social media. Olerich arranged to meet the officer for a night of drug use and sex despite numerous reminders that the officer was posing as a minor.
Olerich was arrested at the arranged pick-up point with drugs, condoms, and drug paraphernalia.
The case has been scheduled for trial numerous times only to be pushed back for various reasons. The next attempt at a one-day trial is set for June 18th with a final status conference scheduled for May 31st.
The charges were cross-referenced with another case for possession of cocaine and maintaining a drug trafficking place. Olerich pled guilty to those charges and was given probation time with numerous conditions including full-time employment or weekly community service and absolute sobriety from drugs and alcohol.
