STEVENS POINT, WI (WSAU) — The Stevens Point School Board is accepting applications until December 2nd, for a new member to fill the opening that member Sam Levin left after resigning on November 14th.
Sarah O’Donnell, Director of Communications for the Stevens Point School District, on the kind of person they’re looking for to fill this position.
“Definitely looking for someone who is interested in teaching and learning but not necessarily someone who, you don’t have to necessarily have education experience to be successful in that role,” she said.
O’Donnell also explained what exactly a member of the school board would do.
“Board members really have that responsibility of directing that strategic plan, the visioning and goal setting for the district,” said O’Donnell. “And they’re responsible for the creation of policies for the district and then also responsible for the hiring of a superintendent for the district.
She says that there are no requirements to meet besides being at least 18 years or old. The board is hoping to have a new member selected by their committee meetings which are taking place next week.
