It's rare in the radio business to stay in one place for an extended period of time. I've been fortunate enough to work in my hometown for most of my radio life…and for over 20 years at Midwest. I know it doesnt happen everywhere and thats why it needs to be recognized when it does. Today is the 16th anniversary for Dave Kallaway and Stacy Cole as a duo in the morning on WIFC. I've been lucky enough to have fun with them for many of those years. Very few people I've been around in this business work harder to connect with their listeners. They are out there…at the events…and involved in the things that their listeners are involved in. And it shows….they have been at or near the top of the ratings for most of the years they've been together…and that doesn't happen by accident. In this business…a run of 16 years doesn't happen often…so congrats to Dave & Stacy for bringing the fun and delivering the goods. Drop them a line if you want…unlike me…they answer all of their mail 🙂
Got caught up and finished this season of 'True Detective” over the weekend. Although it was getting slagged and the plot was re-heated “Chinatown”…I thought the performances were excellent. Colin Farrell and Rachel McAdams especially delivered the goods.
After many near misses, Jason Day wins a major. Hearing lots of good reports from friends who made the trip to Whistling Straits. Was lucky enough attend a round during the 2004 PGA when it was there. It sure looked good on television.
High School football begins regular season games this week. I'll be at Thom Field on Friday night as the Wausau East Lumberjacks host Marshfield.
Another excellent Bluesfest this past weekend. Kudo's to Steven Busha and all of the other folks from Wausau Area Events. I was blown away by the acts I saw…I always enjoy discovering new artists that I didnt know about before. this year the stand out for me was the Selwyn Birchwood Band. Geez he could make that ax cry. If you have some time find his stuff on the web and then pick some up for your collection….although it will never replace seeing him live.
