MARSHFIELD, Wis. (WSAU) — The Marshfield Area Pet Shelter has moved into it’s temporary home in the former Marshfield Airport terminal building on the city’s south side. That’s according to shelter director Karen Rau, who says following the installation of a new $60,000 ventilation system they’re finally moving in to their new location, even though of some remodeling is still going on. “Currently we’re renovating to accommodate 5 dogs and about 30 cats.” Rau said. “We’ll have adoption rooms, we’ll have a medical area for sick pets, and then we’ll also have offices.” The shelter also just picked up a new contract for handling all the city’s stray cats, which means even more help for unwanted animals, and Rau said, “Those funds will be used to get them spayed and neutered, vaccinated, micro-chipped, and then placed up for adoption.” The group is still raising funds for a permanent home, and Rau said, “We have our “Cold Noses, Warm Hearts” dinner scheduled for Friday, October 2nd at Hotel Marshfield. That’s one of our bigger fundraisers of the year.” For more information about the Marshfield Area Pet Shelter and their fundraising efforts, you can go to www.MarshfieldPetShelter.org
