NEILLSVILLE, WI (WSAU) — A spilled cleaning solution was to blame for a chemical scare at Memorial Medical Center and the adjacent assisted living units in Neillsville over the weekend.
The Neillsville Police Department says several agencies were called to the hospital at 6 PM Friday for a report of a strong chemical smell. It was determined that the solution had spilled in a maintenance elevator and the building’s ventilation system had spread the smell.
Members of the Neillsville Fire Department used ventilation fans to clear the smell, and patients and residents were allowed back into their rooms just before 7:30 PM.
No injuries or property damage were recorded as part of the incident.
