STEVENS POINT, WI (WSAU) — A former Stevens Point educator was in a Portage County courtroom Monday to face charges of sexually assaulting a student.
Bryant Marcus White is accused of sending a student inappropriate messages through the social media app Snapchat that implied he wanted to get drunk and have sexual contact with her. He’s also accused of making suggestive comments about parts of her anatomy.
White, who was a teacher and coach at Pacelli Catholic School, was immediately placed on leave when word of the accusations reached school officials and the Catholic Diocese of La Crosse. Shortly after he left the school, other students came forward to share similar stories.
One student said White had a reputation of “[saying] inapprpriate stuff,” and had once asked for a picture of her buttocks. Another 17-year-old student reported receiving a Snapchat message from White after he was placed on leave, saying he could not wait for her birthday.
White worked for the school for just over four years before being fired for violating policies dealing with sexual misconduct and quality personell.
He is free on a $10,000 signature bond and will return to court November 11th.
