CRANDON, WI (WSAU-WAOW) The Crandon Police Department is warning residents after numerous complaints of counterfeit $100 bills circulating in the area.
Officials are warning residents to be extra careful when receiving or exchanging money.

Fake $100 bill passed in Crandon, WI
The bills have two distinct factors that can be used to differentiate them from true $100 bills: there is are Chinese marks on the back and feels different than that of an actual bill.
A statement from Crandon police says: “We have had numerous complaints of counterfeit $100 bills circulating in the area. Please be vigilant when receiving/exchanging money. The bills have Chinese marks on the back, as shown below. The bills also feel very different from an actual $100 bill.”
If you come across a counterfeit bill please contact law enforcement.
Any counterfeit bills should be reported to law enforcement.
