MILWAUKEE, WI (WSAU) – For the second day in a row Major League Baseball has canceled baseball at Miller Park. The Brewers and Cardinals won’t play on Saturday after additional COVID-19 cases were reported among the Cardinals travel group.
Friday’s scheduled game was called off when two members of the Cardinals tested positive for Coronavirus. The positive tests came back on Thursday, and the team was told to quarantine in their hotel.
At least four additional members of the St. Louis traveling party have tested positive, causing Saturday night’s game to be postponed. A report in The Athletic says only one of the new positive tests involves a player. Additional contract testing is underway.
The Brewers and Cardinals are scheduled to play a doubleheader on Sunday. The status of those games haven’t been determined.
It is also not known if the Cardinals spread the virus to their last opponent, the Minnesota Twins. The Twins played Friday night against the Indians.
Team-to-team transmission between the Cardinals and Brewers is not a concern, as none of the Cardinals players were at Miller Park since the team arrived in Milwaukee.
