MERRILL, WI (WSAU) — Another Central Wisconsin county is reporting its first COVID-19 fatality.
Monday afternoon the Lincoln County Health Department released a statement saying the county has recorded its first COVID-19 death. The individual was in their 30’s and had underlying health conditions. No other information is being released on the individual.
Lincoln County Health Department Director and Health Officer Shelley Hersil says in the release, “We are saddened by the loss of one of our community members. We extend our sympathies to their loved ones and all impacted. Preventing COVID-19 requires a community approach. It’s important that we continue to take steps to protect one another, especially our most vulnerable.”
The release stresses the importance of the community working together to prevent the spread of COVID-19. The Health Department recommends following best practices like washing hands, physical distancing, wearing face coverings, and staying home when sick to help slow the spread.
