STAR LAKE, WI (WSAU-WXPR) – A storm Sunday evening has resulted in damage severe enough to prompt the Vilas County Sheriff’s Department to ask motorists to avoid the Star Lake area.
First Responders reported multiple trees down, property damage and roads blocked. No injuries were reported.
As of midnight, County Highway K and County Highway N were again open for travel. Many trees were still down along the shoulder of the roads and some town roads were limited to one lane of traffic. Travel in some areas may be hazardous and the sheriff’s office asked travelers to proceed with caution while emergency crews are continuing to clear debris.
Several people were stuck at campgrounds in the area, as trees fell onto their campers and tents at the Star Lake East campgrounds.
