STEVENS POINT, WI (WSAU) — A Stevens Point man who threatened to kill police officers will spend time behind bars.
David Tejeda was sentenced Wednesday afternoon for charges of possessing body armor as a convicted felon and possessing a firearm as an out-of-state convicted felon. He was sentenced to 8 years in the prison system, four years in state prison and four years on extended supervision.
Tejeda pleaded guilty to the two felonies back in June during a plea hearing. At the plea hearing, a charge of making terroristic threats was read in but dismissed by Judge Thomas Eagon.
Tejeda was accused of threatening police in a text he sent to an ex-girlfriend, where he sent a photo of an officer outside a Kwik Trip saying he was going to kill the officer and several other people. He wrote to her, “I dare you to call the cops. I hate law enforcement officers. It’s going to end with several people dead including me. I have a bulletproof vest and an AK-47 locked and loaded.”
