MARSHFIELD, WI (WSAU-WAOW) – The Marshfield Common Council is waiving late fees for people who fall behind on their sewage payments.
The resolution is intended to help households and businesses that are struggling with their bills during the COVID-19 pandemic.
The Public Service Commission directed the state to stop charging late fees on water utilities at the start of the pandemic as a way to relieve the pressure on those who may fall behind on payments. The Common Council followed suit in April by suspending wastewater utility late fees. The state’s late-fee moratorium expired in July.
Marshfield’s decision waives wasterwater late fees until the Common Council votes to restore them.
