ROTHSCHILD, WI (WSAU) — Wausau residents can return to the movies beginning Friday.
Marcus Theatres has announced it will begin reopening many of its Wisconsin locations on August 21st and 28th, including the Cedar Creek Cinema in Rothschild.
The company has put new policies in place to help battle COVID-19 including a thorough disinfecting process after each movie. Guests will also be required to wear face coverings the entire time they are in the theater, minus when they are eating or drinking.
Other new policies include restroom attendants that will disinfect surfaces regularly and encourage social distancing. No-contact faucets, towel dispensers, and toilets have also been installed at all theaters that didn’t already have them.
Guests will also be encouraged to order tickets in advance and use their mobile phones for entry. Snacks can also be ordered in advance and picked up at a designated location to further minimize contact.
Theater capacity will be reduced by leaving at least two empty seats in between groups.
Initial offerings at the Ceder Creek Cinema will be a blend of new releases and old favorites including the original Jurassic Park, Star Wars Episode V – The Empire Strikes Back, Inception 10th Anniversary Edition, and Sonic the Hedgehog. Recent releases will include I Still Believe, Bloodshot, and Words on Bathroom Walls.
The theater will debut The New Mutants- the 11th film in the X-Men universe- on Thursday, August 27th.
Other Marcus properties that will reopen on Friday include those in the Milwaukee area, Sun Prairie, La Crosse, and the Fox Valley. Many more will reopen on August 28th. A handful of locations including those in Ripon and the Ho-Chunk Cinema in Tomah still don’t have reopening dates.
