STEVENS POINT, WI (WSAU) — A man suspected of taking photos of unsuspecting women in a Plover neighborhood has taken a plea deal.
Randall Cherney was facing 55 counts after being accused of leaning a ladder against a home in Bluebird Acres and filming a woman through her bedroom window. After a plea hearing on Friday morning, Cherney will be sentenced for 6 of the 55 charges. In the deal, Cherney pleaded “no contest” to charges of capturing an intimate representation, capturing an intimate representation of a victim under the age of 18, and stalking.
Cherney was arrested in October of 2019 after a woman accused someone of leaning a ladder against her home and taking pictures through a window. Police then followed tracks in the soft ground to Cherney’s home, where he was arrested.
The state is recommending Cherney serve three and a half years in prison before spending another three and a half years on extended supervision for all 6 counts. A sentencing hearing has been set for December 15th, 2020.
