STEVENS POINT, WI (WSAU) — A trial has been scheduled for a Plover man accused of sexually assaulting a woman back in 2012.
Terence Blackmon will face a jury of his peers from April 21st through the 23rd, 2021 for a felony count of second-degree sexual assault by use of force.
Evidence from an old rape kit led authorities to Blackmon in July of 2019. He has entered a not guilty plea to the charges.
DNA from the kit matched Blackmon’s sample in the FBI’s Combined DNA Index System. The kit in question was one of the thousands that were part of a statewide backlog of kits that sat for years before being tested.
Blackmon’s trial was originally set to take place sometime in 2020, but like many others, his case has been put on hold during the COVID-19 pandemic.
A final pre-trial conference has been set for April 6th. He will also have a motion hearing in late September.
