MILWAUKEE, WI (WSAU) — The Brewers have acquired a handful of prospects for a depth pitcher.
According to ESPN, multiple sources have confirmed the Brewers have traded RHP David Phelps to the Philidelphia Phillies. In return for the pitcher, the Brewers will get three minor league players who have yet to be named.
In Philadelphia, Phelps will reunite with manager Joe Girardi, who was his manager at the beginning of his career in New York. Phelps signed with the Crew back in January for a $4.5 million contract with a team option for 2021.
Phelps is 34-37 with a 3.83 ERA and 576 strikeouts in 601 career innings. His 2020 stats have him at a 2.77 ERA across 13 innings.
