MARSHFIELD, WI (WSAU) — A Stratford man is accused of his 3rd OWI along with possession of pot and drug paraphernalia after an anonymous caller reported he was driving erratically in Marshfield.
Brian Allen Reif was found in the Target parking lot on Friday afternoon after someone observed him making a wide turn and crossing the center line near McMillan and Central. When police caught up with him, he was passed out in the driver’s seat with his foot on the vehicle’s brake and the car still in drive.
When officers startled him awake, he took his foot off the brake and the vehicle jerked forward by about 30 feet. Reif then struggled to get the car in park and roll down the window.
Officers immediately observed the odor of intoxicants and Reif admitted to having consumed alcohol before driving. He then failed a field sobriety test and blew a .16.
Online court records show Reif was found guilty of his second OWI in Marathon County back in 2012. In that case, a judge sentenced him to a short amount of jail time and required him to install an ignition lock device on his vehicles for 14 months.
No court action was immediately scheduled for Allen on the new charges.
