WAUSAU, WI (WSAU) — Three candidates have announced they will be running for Wausau School Board during the 2021 spring non-partisan election.
In a joint news release on Tuesday residents Jon Creisher, Karen Vandenberg, and Cody Nikolai announced they will seek one of the four spots that will come up for election next year.
The trio says they plan to campaign on improving communication between staff and parents and making sure Wausau provides a “world-class” education for families.
Two of the candidates, Creisher and Vandenberg, are first-timers. Nikolai previously ran for the board last April and fell 75 votes short of election.
Board members that are up for election include Jeff Leigh, Beth Martin, President Tricia Zunker, and Vice President Pat McKee.
Of that group, Martin has filed non candidacy papers.
Should there be more than eight candidates for the four seats a primary would be required. If needed, that would be held in February.
