STEVENS POINT, WI (WSAU) — A teenager sentenced in Marathon County for a high-speed chase is headed to trial in another county.
Dawson Armstrong, 17, was in Portage County Circut Court on Monday for an adjourned initial appearance for a felony charge of operator fleeing or eluding an officer for bodily harm or property damage. Earlier this month, Armstrong was sentenced to 50 hours of community service by Marathon County Judge Suzanne O’Neill for 5 misdemeanor charges of resisting or obstructing an officer and theft of movable property of less than $2500.

During his initial appearance, Armstrong waived his right to a preliminary hearing. The court then found probable cause a crime had been committed and bound Armstrong over for trial. He then entered a not guilty plea to the felony charge.
Armstrong will return to court on January 19th for a pre-trial conference.
