EAST LANSING, MI (WSAU) — The Wisconsin Badgers took on Michigan State on Christmas Day and came out of East Lansing with their first victory over the Spartans in over a decade.
D’Mitrk Trice, playing in front of his parents and grandmother, led the Badgers with a season-high 29 points in an 85-76 win. ”It was just great to see them and for them to travel up here and us to get the win on Christmas. It’s a big deal,” he said.
Michigan State led by 9 points in the second half but was outplayed down the stretch. The Badgers outscored State 14-7 to close out the game and made a series of key free throws in the final minute.
SPASH graduate Joey Hauser scored a career-high 27 points for the Spartans in the losing effort. He transferred to MSU from Marquette following the 2019 NCAA tournament.
