GREEN BAY, WI (WSAU) — David Bakhtiari appears to be starting 2021 out on the wrong foot.
The All-Pro LT for the Green Bay Packers has reportedly torn his Anterior Crucial Ligament (ACL) in practice, according to NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport. If that’s the case, it would send Green Bay into the NFL’s postseason tournament without one of the top offensive linemen in the league.
It’s unclear when a formal diagnosis will be announced. The former Colorado Buffalo was listed as “limited” on the Packers injury report for Thursday’s practice.
Bakhtiari missed three games earlier this year with a chest injury. For those games, he was spelled by Elgton Jenkins and Billy Turner. He was recently signed to the largest contract for an offensive lineman in NFL history, a four-year, $105.5 million deal.
Green Bay plays the Chicago Bears on Sunday. With a win, they would secure the top seed in the NFC playoffs and the conference’s only first-round bye.
