WAUSAU, WI (WSAU) — It’s the last day to rent movies at all Family Video locations in Central and Northern Wisconsin.
The chain, one of the last video rental businesses in the nation, will be closing all of its locations in the region by the end of February. That includes stores in the Wausau, Rhinelander, Waupaca, and Stevens Point area.
Today is the last day that customers can rent movies. Starting on Wednesday all inventory of movies, video games, and CBD products will be for sale at markdown prices. Store fixtures will also be sold.
Family Video locations in the region have slowly been closing up as consumers have turned to online streaming services for on-demand movies and TV shows. The chan has been able to fend off closure until now by owning its buildings outright and leasing space to other businesses while also diversifying its offerings to include CBD products.
