PLOVER, WI (WSAU) — Marshfield Clinic and Oswald Counseling Associates have announced a merger resulting from the healthcare system’s purchase of the Plover-based practice.
Marshfield Clinic CEO Dr. Susan Turney says the acquisition comes at a vital time for mental health professionals, who have seen an uptick in patient traffic during the recent pandemic.
“Bringing this experienced and highly-respected group of providers into our System will strengthen our network of mental health services offered across our service area,” said Turney through a press release. “Rural communities across the state and country face a pronounced deficit in access to mental health care compared to metropolitan areas. We are doing everything we can to ensure the communities we serve have those critical mental health services.”
The acquisition also helps Marshfield Clinic expand its presence in the Stevens Point area. The health system recently announced plans for expansion at their Stevens Point location, and also constructed a new Cancer Center in 2017.
The move brings all five full-time therapists at Oswald Counseling Associates under the Marshfield Clinic umbrella. Lynne Oswald, the long-time owner of the business, will continue working for the practice.
Additionally, the facility will now be known as Marshfield Clinic Health System-Plover Counseling Center.
Terms of the deal were not disclosed in Monday’s announcement.
