CARSON WI (WSAU-WDLB) — One person is dead after a dump truck accident in Portage County.
A woman was killed when a dump truck slid out of control, and into the path of her car. The accident happened at 8:30 Friday morning on Highway 34 in the Portage County town of Carson north of Rudolph.
According to the Portage County Sheriff’s Department, a northbound pickup was turning onto County Line Road from Highway 34, and a northbound dump truck driven by a 52-year-old man went out of control when the driver slowed for turning pickup. The dump truck crossed the center line, and into the path of a southbound car driven by a 36-year-old woman, who was pronounced dead at the scene. The driver of the dump truck was not injured.
The Portage County Sheriff’s Department was assisted at the scene by the Wood County Sheriff’s Department, Rudolph Fire and E-M-S, United Ambulance, and the State Patrol. The crash remains under investigation and the names of those involved are being withheld pending the notification of relatives.
