MILWAUKEE, WI (WSAU) — The Milwaukee Brewers avoided salary arbitration with two of their best pitchers on Friday.
The reached contract agreements with both Josh Hader and Brandon Woodruff.
They signed Hader to a one year deal for $6.675 million for 2021. Hader, outside of one blow up game , was lights out again for much of the season. He had a 0.947 WHIP and a strikeout ratio of 14.9 per nine innings in his 21 games. He also started the season with 12 hitless appearances and led the NL with 13 saves in the shortened season.
Woodruff got a big raise as a first time “Super 2” player. His salary jumps from $633,100 to $3.275 million for 2021. He had an ERA of 3.05 and 91 strikeouts in 732/3 innings last season.
The Brewers now have 14 players under contract for 2021 for around $66 million.
