STEVENS POINT, WI (WSAU) — Voters in Stevens Point’s first district will not be returning to the Briggs Street High Rise to cast their in-person ballots.
Due to restrictions on visitors to nursing facilities during the COVID-19 outbreak, the location was moved to Mid-State Technical College on CenterPoint Drive last year, and in a news release on Monday, election officials say it will remain there for the foreseeable future.
The next election in the district is a primary for the state’s Superintendent of Schools on February 16th.
Those looking to vote absentee in the election are encouraged to apply for a ballot as soon as possible. The deadline to have a ballot mailed to you is February 11th or February 12th for military and overseas voters. But, City Clerk Kari Yenter is encouraging residents to not wait until the last minute.
Ballots must be returned by 8 PM on Election Day to count.
Those who will vote in person are encouraged to remember their photo ID and to wear a face-covering while in their polling station.
Voters in District 9 in Stevens Point will also have a primary race for their Alderperson between incumbent Polly Dalton and challengers Brian Beaulieu and Duane Munz.
