WISCONSIN RAPIDS, WI (WSAU) — A death investigation has now become a murder-suicide investigation in Wisconsin Rapids.
On January 25th, the Wisconsin Rapids Police Department responded to a call for service at the 2100 block of 3rd Street South. According to police, they were called to the scene after an out of town family member doing a welfare check at the home discovered a body.
Police say the deceased man had a “recent and apparent self-inflicted gunshot wound.” They then found another deceased man within the home. The State Crime Laboratory-Madison also responded to the scene to help process the evidence.
A forensic autopsy was performed on the body of the second man. Officials say as a result of the investigation, it’s been determined that the first man discovered and intentionally shot the second man, then later shot himself. Police say the men are brothers, had suffered from medical issues, and had been residing at the home together for “some time.”
No other information is being released at this time as an investigation into the deaths is ongoing.
