TOWN OF STOCKTON, WI (WSAU-WAOW) – A man was shot and wounded by a relative while traveling on U.S. 10 in Portage County.
A suspect is in custody.
The Portage County Sheriffs Department responded to a 911 at 2:15 from the victim who reported the incident. The caller was able to provide his location and a description of the suspect and the vehicle they were in.
The suspect’s vehicle was located and police performed a “high risk” traffic stop in Stevens Point. The 31-year-old suspect from Wautoma was taken into custody without incident. They were taken to the Portage County Jail, and was booked on charges of First Degree Reckless Endangerment and Felony Bail Jumping.
Deputies say the shooting victim, a 30-year-old male, was taken to the hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.
The sheriff’s department says is no danger to the public. What led up to the incident hasn’t been made public.
The investigation is ongoing.
