WAUSAU, WI (WSAU) — A jury trial has been rescheduled for a former Wausau babysitter accused of killing a child she cared for in August of 2018.
A jury trial for Marissa Tietsort has been rescheduled for November 29th through December 17th. The trial was initially scheduled for August but was taken off the calendar in July.
Tietsort faces one count of first-degree intentional homicide in the case, with a repeater modifier. She’s accused of abusing a child after a family found their 2-month-old son unresponsive after he had been at her home. A preliminary investigation revealed that the child died while in Tietsort’s care.

Police have also accused her of abusing an 11-month-old girl who went to the doctor with injuries to her face. Tietsort had told the parents the child fell asleep on a couch, then fell onto a carpeted floor. Doctors said the injuries on the girl were not consistent with that story.
After her arrest on the initial charges, it was discovered that Tietsort was also accused of child abuse in June of 2017 and that four of her own children have been removed from her care.
