Senator Rand Paul recently challenged the Biden Administration’s Education Secretary nominee on his statement that it’s “appropriate” to allow boys to compete in girls’ sports by asking him, “What planet are you from?”
How has it become acceptable to anyone for boys to be allowed to compete against girls in sports? Have they lost their minds?
As a competitive tennis player and runner, it would be extremely frustrating and discouraging to compete against a biological male who has a distinctly unfair advantage because of his muscle mass, testosterone and physical ability. Biology necessitates that girls compete against other girls. After puberty, boys become bigger, stronger and faster than girls. On average, men are taller and have twice as much upper body strength as women and 50 percent more strength in their lower bodies. Men have denser bones than women and greater lung capacity. These physical differences give high school boys and men immense advantages in athletics.
In their scramble to accommodate those who identify as transgender, Democrats have left girls and women behind – and it’s wrong.
Imagine how demoralizing it is for females who have trained and competed exclusively against other females and are now forced to compete against males who indisputably have an unfair advantage. In 1972, Congress passed Title IX, which led to a massive expansion of girls’ sports. Before Title IX, 295,000 high school girls participated in athletics. In 2021, it’s more than 2.6 million. The number of female collegiate athletes quintupled. Do these female athletes not matter?
Where are the feminists? If we say nothing, who is left to defend girls and women?
