WAUSAU, WI (WSAU) — The trial for Henry West is going to be delayed while a new defense team is assembled.
On Tuesday Marathon County Judge Gregory Huber adjourned the four-week trial that had been scheduled for May 17th through June 9th at West’s request.
A new attorney will now be assigned to the case, and proceedings will reset beginning with a scheduling conference on March 4th.
Earlier this month it was announced that a new attorney for West had been found, but the trial dates created a conflict in their schedule.
West is accused of killing Pine Grove Cemetery manager Patty Grimm, his former boss, in October of 2019. He’s also accused of wounding two others, then rigging his Schofield apartment to blow up by altering natural gas lines and setting up booby traps throughout his unit.
Police say had the contraptions went off, the explosion could have killed or injured hundreds more.
He faces more than a dozen counts including first-degree intentional homicide, arson, and attempted first-degree intentional homicide.
