MILWAUKEE, WI (WSAU) — Fake crowd noise won’t be a need after this week for the Milwaukee Bucks.
In a press release Tuesday morning, the Milwaukee Bucks organization announced they would begin letting a limited number of fans into Fiserv Forum for games. The organization received approval from the Milwaukee County Health Department to host fans at 10% capacity.
The return to limited fans in the stadium will be in a phased-approach. For the next three games starting on February 16th against the Toronto Raptors only players’ families and invited guests will be allowed in the stadium. The general public can return to games at Fiserv Forum on February 21st against the Sacramento Kings, hosting approximately 1,800 fans.
Bucks and Fiserv Forum President Peter Feigin says of the move, “We are beyond excited to welcome back our great fans to Bucks games, even in a limited capacity. Our fans have been deeply missed by the players, coaches, and Bucks and arena staff, and we are thrilled to open our doors once again.
“While we are still in the midst of a pandemic, and our lives are not back to normal, this is a positive step for the Bucks and the City. We thank the City of Milwaukee, the Milwaukee Health Department, and everyone who played a role in allowing for Fiserv Forum to open in a safe and healthy way,”.
Fans wanting to attend games starting on February 21st will have to follow several guidelines to prevent the spread of COVID-19. Some of those guidelines include wearing face coverings at all times when not eating or drinking, sitting in pods of two or four fans for social distancing, being seated at all times aside from the National Anthem, and all fans sitting within 30 feet of the court must take a rapid COVID-19 test before entering Fiserv Forum.
The Bucks hope to increase stadium capacity to 25% for the Second Half of the NBA season. At the conclusion of the First Half of the season, the capacity plan will be reassessed by the Milwaukee County Health Department.
