MADISON, WI (WSAU) — The University of Wisconsin Athletic Department has announced that fans will be allowed at all home football games in 2021.
In a video posted on YouTube, Athletics Director Barry Alvarez said “we really don’t know how many people we’ll have in the stadium but we do know we have a great schedule. We’re really looking forward to getting people back in the stands.”
Details about how many fans and other potential requirements such as face coverings or COVID-19 vaccination requirements will be announced later. Those are still being worked on behind the scenes.
Wisconsin is currently scheduled to open the 2021 football season on Saturday, September 4th against Penn State in Madison. Their non-conference scheduled includes a home date against Eastern Michigan the following week, and a home date against Army West Point on October 16th.
Other Big Ten home games include the likes of Michigan, Iowa, and Nebraska.
The Badgers are also slated to take on Notre Dame at Soldier Field in Chicago on Saturday, September 25th. That is also a Badger’s home date as part of a two-game series between the schools. The first game was scheduled to be played in Green Bay in 2020 but was called off due to COVID-19’s impact on the college football season.
It remains unclear if the two teams will reschedule that date, which was Notre Dame’s home game in the series.
