WAUSAU, WI (WSAU) — Central Wisconsin residents can get meals from local restaurants for a good cause this Thursday.
On March 11th, local charity organization Be Amazing is hosting their 4th annual”Dine Out” fundraiser to benefit local community projects. Seventeen participating restaurants and six restaurant event sponsors will be donating a portion of their profits on Thursday to the Be Amazing Fund.
Be Amazing Founder and President Cheryl Goetsch says the organization wasn’t sure they’d be able to hold their largest fundraiser this year due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
“As we started reaching out to local restaurants to gauge the interest, we were surprised to find out that we have more restaurants interested in being apart of this Dine Out than we’ve had ever in the past four years,”.
The 10 to 15% of profits raised by the participating restaurants and sponsors will go to the Be Amazing Fund. Goetsch says the money in the fund is then used for various local community projects around Central Wisconsin.
“It’s to raise money for our Be Amazing Fund through the Community Foundation. We use those funds to award grants to people, to groups, and individuals in the community that wants to do community service projects but don’t have the funding to carry it out themselves,”.
Residents can participate in the Dine Out event throughout the day as different participating restaurants are open at different times. Goetsch says you could even support a different restaurant for every meal of the day on Thursday with the diversity in participating restaurants.
If Goetsch has one hope for this year’s fundraiser, it’s for community members to know just how much they are helping others. “And I hope that people realize that their participation in the event is really twofold.
“It’s helping the local restaurants that have been impacted greatly by COVID. And also helping the Be Amazing fund to grow and grow,”.
The participating restaurants on Thursday include Homestead On 52, Sol Nutrition, 6th Street Filling Station, Peak Nutrition, Wish Steak House, Becca’s Cafe, Texas Roadhouse, Tine & Cellar, Basil, The Mint Cafe, Wausau Mine, Carmelo’s, Nueskes at Gulliver’s Landing, Happy Tiers Cakeshop, LLC, Chang Garden, Milwaukee Burger Company, and Village Crossing.
