WAUSAU, WI (WSAU) — The Wausau School District is the latest to announce its plans for teacher and staff COVID-19 vaccinations.
On Wednesday the district released a statement outlining procedures for employees, which calls for staff to call for appointments at Aspirus based on where they work in the district.
Wausau East and West High staff can schedule their appointments immediately. They will be followed by Middle School staffers, who can call for appointments beginning next Monday the 15th.
Teachers and staff in the district’s Elementary Schools are eligible to call two days later on Wednesday, March 17th.
The last group eligible for their shots includes all district-level employees such as those who work out of the Longfellow Administration Center, Maintenance Operations Building, substitute teachers, and School Forest employees.
District officials say the tiered system is based in part on the number of student positive cases at each level. It also prevents the Aspirus scheduling system from crashing.
Shots will be administered at Aspirus facilities.
The first round of shots is expected to take about three weeks. District officials did not provide a date for when second shots will be administered.
