WASHINGTON, D.C. (WSAU) — The Milwaukee Bucks are off to a 2-0 start to the second half of the NBA season after a 125-119 win over the Washington Wizards on Saturday.
Giannis Antetokounmpo recorded his sixth triple-double of the season with 33 points, 11 assists, and 11 rebounds. But he didn’t get the job done by himself by any means as seven other teammates recorded at least ten points in the win.
Jrue Holiday scored 18, Khris Middleton added 16, and Bobby Portis chipped in 14.
Pat Connaughton, Bryn Forbes, and Donte DiVincenzo combined to score 31.
The Wizards were without Bradley Beal who sat out for load management. Davis Bertens also didn’t play. Russell Westbrook led all scorers with 42 points, 12 assists, and 10 rebounds for a triple-double of his own.
Rui Hachimura chipped in 29.
The game was also the first time that twins Brook and Robin Lopez have faced off against each other since February 25th, 2019. Milwaukee’s Brook scored 11, while Robin was limited to just 2 points which came at the free-throw line.
The brothers played together with the Bucks last year.
Milwaukee has now won eight of their last nine games, improving to 24-14 on the season. The Bucks now sit a game and a half behind second-place Brooklyn and two games back of the Eastern Conference-leading Philadelphia 76ers.
The same two teams will play again Monday in the nation’s capital.
