TEMPE, AZ (WSAU) — The Los Angeles Angels topped the Milwaukee Brewers 3-2 on Thursday afternoon at Tempe Diablo Stadium.
Angels starter Andrew Heaney shut down Milwaukee on only one hit and eight strikeouts through five innings.
Milwaukee starter Corbin Burnes gave up two hits and had four K’s through 3 2/3 innings.
The Brewers scored their runs on a Billy McKinney homer and a Daniel Vogelbach RBI double.
Craig Counsell also announced that Brandon Woodruff will be the team’s Opening Day starter. It’s the first time since 2014 that the same pitcher will start the opening game two years in a row.
The Brewers face the Arizona Diamondbacks this afternoon.
