WAUSAU, WI (WSAU) — A Wausau man is now being held on a $1 million bond, accused of shooting and killing a 30-year-old woman in her home on Sunday.
Umberto Lo, 24, was in a Marathon County courtroom for a probable cause hearing on Monday.
A judge then moved the case forward and set bond at $1 million due to the severity of other cases against him that are currently in process. Court records show he has other charges of domestic violence that have been rolled into one with a competency hearing scheduled for March 26th.
That’s also the day formal charges of first-degree homicide and bail jumping are expected to be brought forward against him, stemming from Sunday’s incident.
Also on Monday Wausau Police identified the victim as Mai Rue Vang, also known as “Lily.” According to information presented during Monday’s court appearance, she did have a no-contact order against Lo.
Officers say Vang was shot in her home by Lo following an argument. He was arrested shortly after police arrived.
Family members have set up a GoFundMe account for Vang’s final expenses. If you would like to contribute, click here.
