
University of Wisconsin-Stevens Point Athletics
STEVENS POINT, WI (WSAU) — The UWSP baseball team swept a doubleheader from Finlandia on Thursday at Zimmerman Field. The scores were 10-0 and 16-1.
In Game 1 Nate Carpenter, Austin Syvertson and Jacob Meinholz combined on a no-hitter with 18 strikeouts. Stevens Point native JD Schultz took Game 2 with 14 strikeouts in 5 innings.
Aaron Simmons had five hits on the day including a grand slam and finished with six RBIs . Wausau West grad Payton Nelson had three hits and six RBI’s.
The Pointers, now 2-2, will host Oshkosh on Saturday.
The UWSP softball team swept a DH from Mt. St. Marys on Thursday in Stevens Point. The scores were 4-0 and 11-1.
Lauren Luedtke extended her hitting streak to six games with hits in both games. Madi Greenaberg had 2 RBI’s in each game. Makenna Tkach and Mackensie Honish picked up the wins.
The Pointers, now 11-4, will travel to the College of St. Benedict in Minnesota today.
