WAUSAU, WI (WSAU) — A man accused of shooting a woman at a Wausau apartment complex will undergo a competency examination.
Umberto Lo was in court Friday afternoon for an initial appearance. He’s accused of fatally shooting his girlfriend, 30-year-old Mai Rue Vang, last weekend. Lo had a no-contact order with Vang at the time of the crime and has several open court cases against him.
At his initial appearance, Lo waived his right to a preliminary hearing. The court then ordered a competency exam for Lo. He continues to be held on a $1 million cash bond. Lo is scheduled to return to court on April 9th for a calendar call to set future hearing dates.
