WAUSAU, WI (WSAU-WAOW) — The suspects who vandalized the Hmong American Center’s van have been identified, but will not face charges according to the Center’s leadership.
“In the Hmong community, we’re always taught to obviously forgive others. That’s part of our whole clan structure, that’s part of our whole family structure. If something bad were to happen you’re taught to let it go, to forgive, and that’s how you’re allowed to basically experience peace,” said Yee Leng Xiong, the Center’s Director.
He says they plan to sit down and have educational discussions with the suspects, who have not been identified.
The vandals allegedly sprayed obscene images and the letters “F U” onto the van, which is used to take elderly people to vaccine appointments.
A GoFundMe set up to help fix the van has raised over $6,000.
