CHICAGO, Ill (WSAU) — The Milwaukee Brewers got two home runs from Lorenzo Cain and a sparkling start from Brandon Woodruff as they beat the Cubs 4-2 on Wednesday afternoon at Wrigley Field.
Cain hit a solo homer in the 8th that gave the Brewers a 1-0 lead. Joc Pederson tied the game with a solo shot off Devin Williams in the bottom of the inning.
In the top of the 10th Cain launched a three run shot off Brandon Workman. The Cubs rallied with a run and had the bases loaded before Brad Boxberger got a fly out from Ian Happ to end the game.
Woodruff took a no-hitter into the 7th inning before giving up a single to Happ. Josh Hader picked up the win with and Boxberger got the save after former Pointer JP Feyereisen ran into trouble with two outs in the 10th.
The Brewers took 2 out of 3 from the Cubs and will head to St. Louis for the Cardinals home opener this afternoon…pre game show at 2:40 on WSAU.
