MADISON, WI (WSAU) — Stevens Point native Cole Caufield has won the Hobey Baker Award which goes to the top men’s college hockey player in the country.
He becomes the 2nd Wisconsin Badger to win the award after Blake Geoffrion did it in 2010.
Caufield led the nation in scoring and was the unanimous pick as Big Ten Player of The Year.
He began his professional career Friday night with the Laval Rockets. He signed an entry level contract with the Montral Canadiens after the Badgers were eliminated from the NCAA Tournament.
