Tune in tomorrow (Wednesday, April 14) on Feedback at 8am. Pastor Corey Brooks will be joining me to talk about Project H.O.O.D., his ministry on the south side of Chicago.
From his website:
Project HOOD is a 501 c(3) organization established in 2012. Our mission is to empower people with the guidance, information and tools necessary to become peacemakers, problem solvers, leaders, and entrepreneurs in their communities. After sleeping on the roof of an abandoned motel for 94 days to bring attention to gun violence on the south side of Chicago, the “Rooftop Pastor” Corey Brooks started Project H.O.O.D. with the vision of “ending violence and building communities, one neighborhood at a time.”
On November 20, 2012, Pastor Corey B. Brooks slept on the roof of an abandoned motel for 94 days to bring attention to gun violence on the south side of Chicago.
Known from then on as the “Rooftop Pastor,” Corey Brooks started Project H.O.O.D. with the vision of “ending violence and building communities, one neighborhood at a time.”
Brooks raised enough money to tear down the motel and Project H.O.O.D. has continued it’s mission to empower people with the guidance, information and tools necessary to become peacemakers, problem solvers, leaders and entrepreneurs in their communities.
Project H.O.O.D. is building a state-of-the-art community center on the land where the motel once stood. The Leadership and Economic Opportunity Center will allow Project H.O.O.D. to serve even more disadvantaged residents in the city of Chicago.
