WAUSAU, WI (WSAU) – A Marshfield man will spend 12 months in jail as part of a plea bargain in a child enticement case.
Corey J. Scheunemann was accused of trying to meet a 15-year-old girl for sex, who turned out to be an undercover police officer.
He was initially charged with a more serious felony charge of using a computer to facilitate a sex crime, which carried a mandatory prison sentence. Judge Greg Huber accepted Scheunemann’s guilty plea on a lesser charge and sentenced him to 12 months in the Wood County jail.
He won’t have to serve additional time in prison if he doesn’t re-offend during a 10-year probation period. Scheunemann also won’t be allowed to use the internet for non-work purposes, and will have to register his address under the state’s sex offender law.
