Chicago Pastor Corey Brooks joined me on Feedback last week to discuss his ministry on the south side of Chicago. He stated that the Black Lives Matter Movement is not about protecting black lives and described its lack of impact on local black communities. Pastor Brooks’ community suffered horribly after the death of George Floyd in Minneapolis last May. Pharmacies and grocery stores were looted and vandalized, leaving residents – many of whom are poor – without basic necessities. The pastor organized church members to shuttle their fellow neighbors to pharmacies and stores in other parts of Chicago so they would not have to go without medicine or food. He is committed to raising funds to build a community center to serve the people in his community WITHOUT accepting any handouts from the government. Unlike the BLM Movement, Pastor Brooks is actually making a difference in Chicago.
Important to note that the state of Illinois is receiving $7.5 billion in Biden bucks, a large part of which will likely go to fund the bankrupt pensions of state employees. So much for relief for the businesses and communities that were hardest hit over the past year.
