MILWAUKEE, WI (WSAU) — Corbin Burnes was lights out again and the Milwaukee Brewers beat San Diego 6-0 on Tuesday night in SoCal.
Burnes blanked the Padres for six innings with 10 strikeouts and no walks. He became the first starting pitcher in the modern era to start a season with 40 K’s and no walks. Adam Wainwright held the record of 35 set back in 2013. He has 18 pitched 18 scoreless innings in a row.
The Brewers scored five runs in the 3rd inning. Billy McKinney homered in his second straight game. Travis Shaw had a two run double and Omar Narvaez drove in two with a single. Jace Peterson added a solo homer in the 9th.
The Brewer bullpen threw up zeros again as Eric Yardley, Brad Boxberger and Drew Rasmussen pitched three scoreless innings in relief of Burnes.
