CHICAGO, IL (WSAU) — Brent Suter threw two scoreless innings of relief to earn his second win of the season and Manny Pina belted a pinch-hit, two-run homer in the 7th to lead Milwaukee over the Chicago Cubs 4-3.
Suter took over for Freddy Peralta in the 5th inning after the Brewers starter allowed five hits and two earned runs. He was able to slow the bleeding by allowing just two hits and no runs. J.P. Feyereisen also contributed a scoreless inning before the game turned over to Josh Hader who picked up his 4th save of the season in the 9th.
Andrew Chafin served up that 7th inning tater to Pina and was tagged with the loss for Chicago in .2 innings of relief.
Pina was one of just four Brewers batters who recorded hits in the contest. Keston Hiura led the way going 3-4 with a run scored, Kolten Wong went 2-4 with an RBI and a run scored from the leadoff spot.
Daniel Vogelbach also recorded a pinch-hit base hit in the late innings.
Milwaukee is now 12-8 on the year while Chicago dropped to 10-10. The same two teams will wrap up their three-game weekend set Sunday afternoon. Pregame coverage begins at 12:45 on WSAU.
