WAUSAU, WI (WSAU) — The Eastbay Sports Complex is no more.
Wausau-based Peoples State Bank and the Marathon County Parks, Recreation, and Forestry Department announced a new five-year naming rights deal for the county-run complex on Tuesday. That’ll run through 2026, and includes an option for a five-year extension beyond that.
“This agreement helps offset the costs of operating this sports complex, allowing user fees to remain manageable and providing a benefit to Marathon County taxpayers,” said Jamie Polley, Marathon County Parks, Recreating & Forestry Director in a press release. “We’re excited for this new partnership with People State Bank. The Peoples Sports Complex sees thousands of visitors every year and is a premier facility within the state and the Midwest. The Peoples Sports Complex is a prime example of the County’s commitment to being the safest, healthiest and
most prosperous county in the state.”
The complex will now be known as the Peoples Sports Complex. They’ll also have the naming rights to the championship field and concessions stand at the facility.
Peoples Sports Complex features over a dozen athletic fields for all levels of competition and also serves as the home facility for groups such as Marathon County United Soccer Club, Wausau Area Youth Soccer, and Wausau City Futbol Club. In addition to soccer, the fields can also be configured for lacrosse and bike polo.
It’s also the home of the annual Wausau Hmong Festival.
Peoples State Bank had previously been a field sponsor at the facility. Tuesday’s press release did not specify if Eastbay, the Wausau-based national sporting goods catalog, would still have a presence at the facility.
